Dental bridges are a type of dental restoration used to replace one or more teeth. They are typically made up of two or more dental crowns that are placed on either side of the gap created by the missing teeth, which are then connected to artificial teeth that fill the gap. The crowns, called abutments, serve as anchors for the artificial teeth (pontics).
The process of getting a dental bridge typically involves several steps. First, Dr. Artaza will need to prepare the abutment teeth, which are the teeth on either side of the gap where the missing tooth/teeth used to be. This involves removing a portion of the enamel from these teeth to make room for the dental crowns that will be placed on top of them. Dr. Artaza employs laser technology for this step a smoother process and optimal results.
Next, we will take impressions of your teeth and send them to a dental laboratory, where the bridge will be custom-made to fit your mouth. In the meantime, you may be given a temporary bridge to wear while you wait for the permanent one to be made.
Once the bridge is ready, you will return to our Old Katy dental office to have it placed. Dr. Artaza will first check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before permanently cementing it in place. Afterward, you will be given instructions on how to care for your new bridge and how to maintain good oral hygiene to prevent future dental problems.
